Brief Summary
The purpose of this project is to determine the impact of hydration education on participant knowledge and water intake for residents in the independent living unit at Cornwall Manor. Therefore, we aim to look at the impact of education as a tool to improve overall hydration among the geriatric population.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria: Be a current resident at Cornwall Manor in the independent living unit Understand English Be literate to 5th grade level and up Ages 60+ years old Self report that they do not have a diagnosis of heart failure, dialysis, end stage renal failure and/or Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone secretion (SIADH) Have the ability to drink thin liquids Be their own legal guardian Exclusion Criteria: Individuals with a diagnosis of heart failure, dialysis, end-stage renal failure and/or Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone secretion (SIADH) will be excluded. This is due to increasing water intake with participants with these conditions could be potentially harmful or life threatening.
